Can we detect this problem and solve it at home before going to a technical service? For this, there are several solutions that you can apply at home. Now let’s apply these solutions and tests. Please follow all the steps in order.

An important warning before performing the solution steps below: You must make sure that the computer is not energized. In other words, the computer must be turned off and even the power cable must not be plugged in when removing and installing something on the computer. If you remove and install a part while the computer is running, your motherboard will shut down.

Step 1: Is the problem in Windows? Or in the Computer?

One of the most confusing situations for users is when the Windows desktop does not appear. In this case, after the boot logo, the screen goes to black and stays that way, with no desktop or start screen. This situation is related to Windows. It has little to do with computer hardware failure. So, if you touch the Power button and the manufacturer logo or Windows logo appears on the screen and then the screen goes black, you know that the problem is with Windows. We can fix the problem by doing a clean format or turning off the quick start settings. Sometimes this problem can also be caused by incompatible video card drivers and disk errors.

Step 2: Is there a No Signal message on the monitor?

If there is a warning message such as No Signal or No Signal on your monitor, this indicates that your monitor is intact but there is no image coming from the Chassis to the monitor. There may be two reasons for this. There is a problem with the cable or there is a problem with the computer case. If you do not get a message like No Signal when your monitor is not connected to the case and there is no image in any way, go directly to Step 4. If there is a no signal message, continue with Step 3.

Step 3: Check the display cable

The first step is to check the type of cable you are using, such as HDMI, VGA, DVI, etc., that transmits the image. If you have a different cable, at least try it with a different cable to rule out the cable as the problem. Also make sure that you are plugging the video cable into the correct input. If your case has an external video card, the cable should be plugged there. And If you have a video card, you will not get a picture if you go and plug the cable into the onboard input. If you do not have a video card, there is only one input left, which is onboard, that is, to plug it into the video output on the motherboard.

Step 4: Plug your computer into a different display

Even if you do not connect any cables to the monitors, they will give a message like No Signal when they are working. This indicates that your monitor is intact. If you don’t get any warning screen and you don’t get any image, even momentarily, you may think that your monitor is malfunctioning. To do this, connect your Computer case to a different monitor or Television. This way you can find out if your Monitor is intact. If you do not get a picture on a different screen, we will look for the problem in the case.

Step 5: Draining Current from the Chassis

1. First unplug the power cable of the case.
2. Then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
3. Finally, plug in the power cable and turn on the computer. If there is no screen, continue to the next step.

Step 6: Remove the bios battery and reset CMOS settings

Bios battery is needed to store CMOS settings on motherboards. Carefully remove the bios battery on the motherboard with a screwdriver. After removing the bios battery, press and hold the power key for 20 seconds. Thus, the cmos settings have been reset. If you wish, plug and play the computer without installing the bios battery and see if you can get an image.

Step 7: Check the RAM

A malfunction in the RAM can cause the display to fail. You may have two pieces of RAM. Open the lid of your computer and try to get an image by trying the RAMs one by one. Or you can test with a 2nd ram if you have one. Also, sometimes it helps to wipe the pins of the ram with an eraser and clean them with isopropyl alcohol. After this process, remove the bios battery again, reset the CMOS and test the computer.

Step 8: Unplug the External Video Card

If your computer has an external video card, you can remove it and try to get an image only through the motherboard. Sometimes the fans fail because the video cards are not maintained and the video card cannot cool itself and the chip fails. In this case, there is no image on the screen. After removing the video card, remove the bios battery and try to get the image through the onboard output on the motherboard.

Step 9: Try a Different Video Card

Some processors are APU-enabled. These processors can output images through the motherboard without a video card. However, in non-APU processors, you cannot get an image without a video card. If your system is also APU; It is useful to get an image with a different video card.

Step 10: Power supply Failure

When the Power Supply in the computer weakens over time, it is no longer sufficient to supply the system and may cause the problem of not displaying the image on the screen. The capacitors in the power supply decrease in value over time. And the Power supply circuit starts to work incompletely. Mostly these capacitors swell. Sometimes their effect may decrease without swelling. In this case, it is useful to test with a second power supply if you have one.
