Windows 10 Start Menu Issues

Metro applications that came into our lives with Windows 8 continue to take shape in Windows 10. In Windows 10, the start menu is prepared with the metro infrastructure and works like a different module independently from other applications. This is an error with the Start menu, and not the whole system, but only the start menu will cause an error. Sometimes, the Start menu can be corrupted due to malfunctions or virus effects in the registry about the start menu or the system files related to the user.

Although Windows says that it will repair it by itself in a malfunction in the Start menu, unfortunately, it cannot do this. But there are some ways to fix the start menu without formatting it with some commands or other methods.

Fix: Critical Error Your Start menu isn’t working

1. Press The Win+R  keys together on your keyboard. The Run window will open. Type “PowerShell” in the Open field and press the OK Button.
2. Or you can follow the path to C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0″, right click the “powershell.exe” program and run it as administrator.

3. Now we need to run PowerShell with administrative rights, so we enter the command “Start-Process powershell -Verb runAs” and run PowerShell as administrator.

4. Now we will enter the command that will fix the start menu in the PowerShell window that we opened with Administrator rights. To do this, copy the code below and Right click and paste in an empty place in the PowerShell window and finally press the “ENTER” key and execute the command.

With this command, all metro applications will be reinstalled. At the end of this command, you can restart the computer.

Method 2: Create a New User Account

When you create a new user, you have a brand new start menu. Copy your files from your current desktop, downloads, and documents to another partition, for example to Local Disk D, if this is not available you can copy to the home directory on Local Disk C.

1. 1. Press Win+R keys together on your keyboard.
   2. The Run window will open. Type “compmgmt.msc” in the Open section and press the OK Button.

   

   3. We will see the Computer Management panel. Here, click on “Local Users and Groups” then “Users” in the left panel.

   

   4. You will see a list of user names on the computer. Now Right click on a blank place on this screen with your mouse and click on “New User …”

   

   5. In the new window that opens, you will enter the information of the new user. Here, enter the name of the account you will create in the “User Name:” section (I do not recommend you to enter Turkish characters). Then set it if you want a Password. Finally, we complete the process by removing the “User must change password at next session” option and selecting the “Password always valid” option, and clicking “Create” and “Close” respectively.

Delete the old User account

Now, in order to delete the old account, you can delete the account from the same place by Right-clicking the mouse and clicking the “Delete” option, so that there are no two users at startup.
