As you know, disks using FAT file system can have files with a maximum size of 4095mb. So when you try to copy a file larger than 4095MB, it gives an error “the file is too large for the desination file system”. Also, you cannot burn a single file larger than 4481MB to DVD. For this you have to divide that file into volumes.
If you want to share your files on the internet, you can divide the files into parts with WinRAR and share them on the internet. For this, you can easily split files with Winrar with a few small operations.
Split File into Parts with WinRAR
Let’s assume that WinRAR program is installed on your computer.
- Right-click the file to be divided into parts with the mouse and click WinRAR > Add to archive…
- You will see a screen like the image below. Here, the setting for the shredding process is in the “Split to volumes, size” section. Here you have to choose how many mb or gb each partition will be. You can adjust the binder according to FAT32 or DVD
- After selecting your partition size and making other compression settings, you can create your archives divided into volumes by clicking the “OK” button.
